The first leg of El Clasico 2016-17 is just few days away, but injuries are also playing its role. Both teams are have big injuries, but Barcelona have some relief though. Back to back injuries of Real Madrid players making it really difficult for Zinedine Zidane. The French manager will have second El Clasico being manager of Real Madrid. Real Madrid: Five Injured Players
1. Gareth Bale: Out for sure
One of the key players of Real Madrid, Gareth Bale is all set to miss the El Clasico due to long term injury. During Champions League match against Sporting Lisbon, the Welshman injured his ankle and after the surgery, he is expected to miss the squad until February.
2. Pepe: Expected To Play
On 29th October, the Euro 2016 final man of the match suffered a muscle injury at the Mendizorroza, the home ground of Alaves. His recovery period was four weeks, but Pepe recovered quickly and has already joined the squad. In fact, Pepe is expected to play against Sporting Gijon.
3. Alvaro Morata: Will Miss
Having grade 2 injury in his right leg, Alvaro Morata will miss this El Clasico. He has been very impressive for Real Madrid this season. With four goals in five games of La Liga, Morata is playing crucial role, but he have to wait more to play more. If he recovers quickly, he could return for FIFA Club World Cup competition.
4. Toni Kroos: In Doubt
Missed already International games, Madrid derby, La Liga games and Champions League match, Toni Kroos is still in doubt. Although he is making a good recovery, but it’s not enough to make El Clasico appearance.
5. Casemiro: Good News
Casemiro is returned to the squad and have attended training sessions. Since September, he has not played any game. But he is now looking fit and fine which means, the player could enjoy the intensity of El Clasico.
Barcelona: Three Injured Players
Andres Iniesta: Could Play
During a match against Valencia, Enzo Perez’s tackle injured him that was looking very serious. When he left the ground on stretcher, he was expected to miss at least 6 weeks. Iniesta is now returned and could play against Real Madrid on 3rd December.
Samuel Umtiti: Again In Doubt
The French footballer got injured during international break and tore his hamstring. He only returned from a knee sprain that he picked up against Atletico Madrid. He is not sure to play El Clasico and remains in doubt.
Jeremy Mathieu: Unknown Appearance
One of the key defenders of Barcelona, Jeremy Mathieu has not received medical discharge from the doctors which is the main issue. He was expected to miss three weeks, but after three weeks, Mathieu has not joined the training squad.
