The President of La Liga, Javier Tebas said Spain’s top flight football league, La Liga will never be played outside of Spain
Looking on great popularity of El Clasico, it was believed that the match could be held outside of Spain, but the president of Liga BBVA has ruled out staging the El Clasico abroad. The president is overseeing an aggressive global marketing push, but that won’t include Real Madrid and Barcelona facing off beyond Spain’s borders. Real Madrid and Barcelona are one of the most popular and successful football clubs of this generation. Both clubs have countless fans not only in Spain, but in other countries. President Javier Tebas said “El Clasico will never be played outside of Spain. It’s a key game in our league competition and has huge international prestige. We will study the possibility of playing certain games outside of Spain but at present this initiative doesn’t form part of our international expansion plans.”

The president also revealed that he is a Real Madrid fan. The 53 year old La Liga chief, who has led the LFP since April 2013, confessed he has followed the club since childhood. He was born in Costa Rice but revealed his support for the club in order to avoid being called a hypocrite in the fact came out from elsewhere.
